Creating something new from the old

True Story...

My husband and I were able to visit a friend who said something that made me think. She said that there were places that she had not re-visited and people she had not seen for a long time because of the memories that they brought her from her past. She explained that those memories brought some embarrassment and even some shame. But after a couple of minutes in the same conversation she told me that she had finally decided to let go of her fear and that she would go back to create new memories and let go of the old ones that for so long had held her back.

 

How many of us go through this same situation? Without realizing it we build ourselves into little jails creating unnecessary restrictions when we were made to be free! We all have made mistakes in our past. We all were foolish in our youth at some point or another, but that shouldn't dictate our present and definitely should not hold us from a great future. 

 

Today's blog is a challenge for those of us who have this same struggle with our past that needs to be released. In the name of Jesus may you release the old and replace it with the newness that only Christ can bring. Remember that the God we serve is a forgiving and loving God who desires for you to be free from your past and hopeful of your future.
