The Smell of Christ

I carry with me the aroma of Jesus
Like an expensive perfume it lingers around me
And keeps me feeling fresh and clean.
When I enter a room, his scent enters with me making me stand out from the crowd.
His fragrance is easy to detect as it softly permeates like expensive potpourri.
When I meet people, people perceive God in me. Even before I've released words from my mouth, His essence has already reached others before me.
How true it is though,
Not all will like the smell of Christ
For some it is more like an intrusive odor that does not agree with them. It spoils their evening, makes them uncomfortable and eager to turn away. Yet for others it is the sheer smell of salvation. The sweet reminder of everlasting peace, acceptance and grace. These are the ones that remain close to the presence of God like a customer hovers over lavender candles letting the airy perfumes climb up to their expecting nostrils.
Oh how extraordinary it is to be able to carry the scent of God himself. What a priviledge it is to stand before God the Father smelling like Christ his Son.

                                       --------------

"But thanks be to God who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of him everywhere. For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God."

                          2 Corinthians 2: 14-17
