Names

Throughout the day,

Every day

Many names are added to the Book.

Pages filled with names of people

Who are now bound

To the promises of God.

And have been given

Everlasting Life

Through an undeserved

Act of forgiveness and grace.

The pages are long and wide

With ample space left on them

For the other names that soon

Will be pressed into this

Contract of Life

There is assurance for all

Who find their names

on those golden pages,

They will not be erased

Or soon forgotten

The finger of God glides softly

Through the growing list of heavenly guests

Who will be sitting at the table to dine with him.

He is filled with joy knowing 

That soon He will be able to share eternity,

Face to face with His prime creation.

Angels stand like soldiers

Guarding this list

As they watch the names

Being added, triumphantly.

With much cheer the heavenly beings rejoice

And the trumpets sound

As the sheep continue to find

Their way back into their Pastor's fold

Sitting by the throne of God is the list;

 Originally nailed to His hands

Now forever engraved in His heart,

The Book of Life
