Act surprised when you look my way

Dear Loving Jesus:

How can I show you my love towards you

when you are the one that generates love within me?

How can I surprise you with my poetry and prose, 

with my actions or with my silence 

when everything good that is in me comes from you?

You know my prayers

Even before I have thought them.

You know my worries before they begin.

You hear my words before I have said them.

You send supply my way before the trouble starts.

You know the number of hairs on my head. 

You know the colored specs in my eyes.

The days of my life can be measured by the fingers in your hands.

My feelings are not kept a secret from you

Because you know my heart.

You know me me better than I know myself.

How can the saved ever surprise the savior? 

How can the created ever surprise the creator?

Lord God know that my heart is aimed to please yours. 

For my sake, please smile with surprise when you look my way

 like my loving parents did when when I was a small child aiming to please.

Know that my heart's desire is to generate joy in you

and to make you proud to be my Father
